Tips for Getting Started
Work Hard, Work Smart
Jazzercise promotes a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere.
We encourage you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. Generally as
the class progresses, if you are breathing somewhat hard, and can manage to say
a few words without gasping, you're probably working right in your training
zone. However, if you're out-of-breath, and are having trouble saying even a
few words, you probably need to slow down a bit.
What You'll Need
Wear good rubber-soled aerobic or cross-training shoes, and dress in
comfortable clothes that allow freedom of movement. Most people wear stretchy
pants, or bike shorts, and a short sleeve tee or tank shirt. Water bottles are encouraged. Our facility provides hand weights for use
during the strengthening portion of class.
A few mats are also available to use, but if you prefer not to share the
sweat, you may want to bring your own.
New Kid on the Block?
If you haven't participated in an exercise program before,
don't worry about keeping up with the class for your first few classes. If
things start moving too quickly, or the steps seem confusing, just march in
place to keep moving. It takes a little time to build some endurance, but if
you stick with it - it will happen.
